EXCLUSIONARY NOTICES

mast head three

Exclusionary notices like “Goods once sold cannot be returned” are illegal under the Commerce Commission Decree 2010 and are a breach of consumer’s right to redress. However, in Fiji it is a common practice among traders to put up these notices. Due to lack of awareness many consumers accept this condition as a norm and do not question it. With the help of European Union (EU) project “Strengthening Consumer Rights in Fiji through Advocacy and Enforcement of Consumer Protection Laws”, the Council since beginning of 2010 has been working hard on changing this practice.
